What should I look for when choosing an orthodontist?
An orthodontist should take the time to sit down with you personally in order to explain the diagnosis, the treatment options available, and answer any questions you may have. A good orthodontist will make themselves available to speak to their patients after hours in case emergency care is required. As a boutique orthodontic practice, Dr. Gawlik oversees your care every step of the way. As a patient, you will see her at every appointment. This ensures your treatment progresses most efficiently, and you will get the best treatment result possible. Dr. Gawlik has a real eye for aesthetics, and will continue to make adjustments until you are 100% satisfied with your new smile. Why is visiting the orthodontist so important?
Visiting an orthodontist at age seven is important to make sure the teeth and jaws are developing normally. Often times, some limited early treatment may eliminate the need for more extensive treatment later on. Treating early can achieve the best results for facial aesthetics long term.
What is involved during my first visit?
At your complimentary first appointment at our Mississauga or Etobicoke orthodontic office, we will take digital photos and a digital 3D scan of your teeth. Dr. Gawlik will perform a comprehensive examination of your teeth and sit down with you to discuss the findings. Treatment options, length of treatment, and costs will be outlined. If you are ready to start your treatment, you will be given the option to do so that day. We try to make the process as easy and efficient as possible!
What kind of conditions do you treat?
Dr. Gawlik treats crowding, spacing, protrusion of the teeth, underbites, overbites, harmful oral habits, impacted teeth, crossbites, gummy smiles, jaw misalignment, and cosmetic concerns in children, teens, and adults of all ages.
How do I clean my teeth properly during treatment?
Patients must brush after every meal and use specialized tools like floss threaders, interdental brushes, or water flossers to clean around wires and brackets.
Do braces or aligners hurt?
Generally, braces do not "hurt." After certain visits, teeth may be sore for a few days. Over-the-counter pain relievers usually manage this initial tenderness.
What treatments do you offer?
Our office provides conventional braces, clear braces, Invisalign® clear aligners, surgical orthodontics, and early intervention for young children.
How long have the offices been in existence?
Our two offices were established in 1970 by Dr Randy Lang and have become well regarded as providing excellent orthodontic care in the Etobicoke and Mississauga communities. Both offices were recently completely renovated to incorporate the latest technology, including high tech orthodontic equipment, state-of-the-art 3D scanning, and techniques for accelerated orthodontic treatment.

What foods do I need to avoid?
With traditional braces, “Popcorn, Nuts, Hard candy, Caramels, Taffy, Ice, Hard chips” and other sticky or hard foods should be avoided to prevent broken brackets or bent wires. Removable aligners have no food restrictions as long as you take them out to eat.
My child needs orthodontic treatment, but can't tolerate those goopy impressions. Is there any way to avoid those?
We utilize intraoral scanners to provide accurate digital impressions of your teeth in 3D. It is not necessary to take a goopy conventional mold of your teeth.
What happens if I would like to speak to Dr. Gawlik outside of regular clinic hours, or if I have an emergency?
Dr. Gawlik provides 24/7 support to patients in case of need when our clinic is closed. You can choose to reach out to her by phone or email at any time.
Will my dental insurance cover the treatment?
Coverage depends on the specific insurance plan, and many policies offer a separate lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic care, especially for patients under a certain age.
How much do braces or clear aligners cost?
Costs vary based on the specific type of appliance needed and the length of treatment. Our office offer flexible monthly payment plans.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes! Our office offers family discounts (for siblings and/or parents) and discounts for upfront payments in full.
